Gregory Curtis

Chairman and Managing Director

Gregory Curtis is the chairman and founder of Greycourt & Co., Inc., an open-architecture wealth advisory firm serving substantial families and select endowments on a global basis. Prior to founding Greycourt, Greg served for many years as president of a family office for a branch of the Mellon family and as president of the Laurel Foundation. Greg is the author of Creative Capital (2004) and The Stewardship of Wealth (2012), and he is also the author of numerous white papers on a variety of investment topics. Greg writes a blog for The Alliance Report.

Over the years Greg has served on many investment committees for family and institutional investors. He currently serves on the investment committees for Carnegie Mellon University, The Pittsburgh Foundation, St. John’s College, United Educators Insurance Co., and Winchester Thurston School, among others. Greg currently chairs the board of directors of The Pittsburgh Foundation (the community foundation for the Pittsburgh region); is a member of the board of directors of United Educators Insurance Co.; is a past chair of the board of St. John’s College (Annapolis and Santa Fe) and past chair of the board of The Investment Fund for Foundations; and he has chaired or served on the boards of many other investment, educational, and cultural organizations.

In addition to founding Greycourt and co-founding The Investment Fund for Foundations, Greg is the founder and CEO of Moneybags LLC, the developer of the Moneybags© financial app.

Greg holds a BA degree from Dartmouth College, a JD degree from Harvard Law School, and he is a graduate of The Endowment Institute at Harvard Business School. He also holds an honorary BA degree from St. John’s College.

Gregory R. Friedman

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director 

Greg is the Chief Executive Officer of Greycourt, and also serves as a managing director and member of the management committee. Prior to joining Greycourt in 2001, he was a principal at Windermere Investment Associates, where he advised high net worth families regarding the construction of tax-efficient portfolios, the development of complex multi-generational investment policies, the evaluation and selection of traditional and alternative investment managers and ongoing tactical implementation of client portfolios. Greg has developed tax and estate planning capabilities specifically for after-tax asset allocation software, and he has created a dynamic multi-factor model for forecasting long-term asset class return assumptions. 

Prior to working with Windermere, Greg was Director of Investment Strategy at Mellon Private Capital Management where he managed $3 billion in client assets.

He is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Greg sits on the Board of Directors for the I Have a Dream Foundation. The I Have a Dream Foundation (IHAD) works to ensure that all children have the opportunity to pursue higher education and to fully capitalize on their talents, aspirations, and leadership to have fulfilling careers and create a better world.

Jim Foster

Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director

Jim Foster is Chief Investment Officer at Greycourt and also serves as a managing director and a member of the management committee. As Chief Investment Officer, Jim leads the Greycourt Investment Committee to determine the firm’s capital markets views and overall investment philosophy. In addition to his duties as chief investment officer, he advises wealthy families and institutional clients on strategic and tactical asset allocation and investment strategy as a member of Greycourt’s advisor team.

Prior to joining Greycourt, Jim was Executive Vice President and Head of Distribution for Schroders Investment Management North America in New York. Prior to Schroder’s, he was a senior vice president with Mellon Financial Corporation working across investment management and consulting. He developed and led Mellon’s Integrated Financial Solutions efforts, advising clients on asset-liability matters, asset allocation, manager structure and selection, performance analysis, and specific fiduciary and investment issues associated with concentrated securities positions. He also helped develop simulation models based on investor preferences and regulatory constraints for dynamic decision making. Prior to joining Mellon, Jim was a vice president with J.P. Morgan where he helped establish the mortgage-backed securities department and traded and made markets in mortgage-backed securities. He managed the analytics group that evaluated complex mortgage and mortgage-derivative securities. While at Morgan, he worked in Global Derivatives in the Equity Derivatives Group and was responsible for private structures created primarily for U.S. pension accounts and investment managers.

Jim has taught fixed-income securities markets, valuation, and portfolio management techniques as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance in the Stern School of Business at New York University. Jim is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Carnegie-Mellon University.

Roy W. Nichol, CFA

Managing Director

Roy Nichol is a managing director at Greycourt. As a senior member of Greycourt’s advisor team, he advises wealthy families and institutional clients on strategic and tactical asset allocation and investment strategy. He oversees Greycourt’s southwest office in Houston.

Roy is formerly a managing director in The Private Bank of JPMorgan Chase where he worked with ultra affluent individuals and private foundations. He was named by Worth magazine in 2002 as one of the top financial advisers in the US. He has extensive experience in providing clients strategic advice on overall investment direction, risk mitigation and insuring asset allocations are consistent with tax-and-estate-planning considerations.

Roy’s community activities include that of past board chairman of Holocaust Museum Houston, and participation on the advisory boards of The Memorial Hermann Foundation, The Junior League of Houston, and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Roy is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and is a member of the Houston Society of Financial Analysts. He holds a BA in economics from Baylor University.

Christopher Fineburg, CFA

Director

Christopher Fineburg is a director at Greycourt and a member of the advisor team serving client relationships, and he also is the co-portfolio manager of the Greycourt Partners Fund and a member of Greycourt’s tactical asset allocation committee.

Prior to joining Greycourt, Chris was a principal at Calibrated Asset Management (CAM), where his responsibilities included researching and developing market neutral and equity arbitrage strategies along with tax-efficient overlay models. Prior to CAM, he was employed by Delaware Investments, as an assistant vice president with responsibility for institutional clients in the northeast and midwest. Chris began his career working for a family office as an analyst on the acquisition team, focusing on distressed mortgage companies and underlying loan portfolios.

Chris is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and member of the Pittsburgh Society of Financial Analysts. He holds a BS in finance from the Florida State University and an MBA with concentrations in finance and investment management from Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business.

Thomas R. Moore

Director

Thomas Moore is a director in the Pittsburgh office and a member of the advisor team. Tom is an attorney with a background in trust, estate, and charitable planning. Prior to joining Greycourt, Tom managed a specialized practice in Morgan Stanley's Pittsburgh office where he advised individuals, family offices and charitable organizations. At Morgan Stanley, he assisted clients with the development of investment policy statements, asset allocation, and manager selection. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Tom was a senior vice president with PNC Advisors. He served in various positions in trust and private banking during his 21 years there.  Tom helped to develop PNC's first integrated private banking office, The PNC Financial Service Center. Prior to PNC, Tom held positions as a fund raiser at Carnegie Mellon University and as a staff attorney at the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Tom is a graduate of Kenyon College, Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law, and Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz School.

Tom has served on the adjunct faculty of the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon University as well as a variety of boards including Kenyon College, The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, Trinity Cathedral of Pittsburgh, Gateway to the Arts, The Carnegie Mellon University Alumni Executive Board, The Heinz School Alumni Executive Board, The Pittsburgh Recovery Center, Calliope (The Pittsburgh Folk Music Society) and the Circles Board of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

Kyle Foster

Senior Investment Analyst

Kyle is a senior investment analyst based out of Greycourt’s Minneapolis office. He focuses on the execution of client needs, manager evaluations, and portfolio review and monitoring. Prior to joining Greycourt, Kyle was as an associate consultant with CTC Consulting for five years, working with high net worth clients.

Kyle graduated from Oregon State University in 2002, with a BS in business administration, with a focus in finance.

Jeff Moyer

Senior Investment Analyst

Jeff is a senior investment analyst specializing in relative valuation research and analysis. Jeff is a member of the Greycourt advisory team serving client relationships, and he also is the co-portfolio manager of the Greycourt Partners Fund and a member of Greycourt’s tactical asset allocation committee. He joined Greycourt in 2008, while finishing his MBA. Previously, he was employed as an account manager in the automotive industry, supplying a number of major automotive manufacturers.

He holds an MBA with concentrations in finance and investment strategy from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business as well as a BS in chemical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. Jeff passed Level 3 of the CFA Exam in June 2010.

Jared Zeigler, CFA

Senior Investment Analyst

Jared is a a senior investment analyst with Greycourt. He works closely with Greycourt’s advisor team analyzing and managing client investment accounts and performing manager research. His experience includes five years as a senior associate at Columbia Financial Advisors, Inc. where he performed private equity valuations appraised venture capital opportunities; and three years as an associate at Pearson Financial Group.

Jared is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and holds an MB in finance from the University of Portland, and a BS, business administration & finance from Portland State University.

Teresa Armel

Investment Analyst

Teresa works closely with senior members of the advisory team to analyze and manage client investment accounts, and also partners with Greycourt’s senior investment analysts. Teresa originally joined Greycourt in 2008 as a senior client account administrator where she was responsible for day-to-day management of operational issues for client accounts. Prior to joining Greycourt, Teresa worked as mortgage broker responsible for the origination and processing of mortgage backed loans to residential and commercial borrowers.

Teresa received her BS in business administration, majoring in finance from Robert Morris University.
