Gregory D. Curtis, Managing Director & Chairman (Pittsburgh)

Prior to founding Greycourt Greg served for many years as president of a family office for a branch of the Mellon family and President of the Laurel Foundation. Greg is the author of Creative Capital: Managing Private Wealth in a Complex World, a step-by-step guide to the management of significant taxable assets. He is also the author of a series of white papers on a variety of investment topics of interest to substantial private investors and endowed institutions. Greg has long experience advising ultra-wealthy families on broad wealth management issues, including portfolio design, implementation of best investment practices, design and oversight of family offices and family investment partnerships, philanthropy, family dynamics, estate, tax and insurance planning, and issues associated with closely held businesses. Greg also has extensive experience working with foundations and endowments, both as an in-house executive and an outside advisor.

Greg is currently chair of the Board of Directors of The Pittsburgh Foundation, America's third oldest community foundation. He is a past Chair of the Board of Visitors and Governors of St. John’s College (Annapolis and Santa Fe) and is a past Chair and a founding Director of The Investment Fund for Foundations, a non-profit firm that provides investment management services to nonprofit organizations. He currently serves on several boards and investment committees, including Carnegie Mellon University, The Pittsburgh Foundation, St. John’s College, and the Winchester Thurston School. Greg holds a BA degree from Dartmouth College, a JD degree from Harvard Law School and is a graduate of The Endowment Institute at Harvard Business School. He holds an honorary BA degree from St. John’s College.

Jim Foster, Managing Director (Pittsburgh)

Prior to joining Greycourt, Jim was an Executive Vice President and Head of Distribution for Schroder Investment Management North America in New York. Before that, he was a Senior Vice President with Mellon Financial Corporation working across institutional investment management and consulting. He developed and led Mellon’s Integrated Financial Solutions efforts, advising clients on asset-liability matters, asset allocation, manager structure and selection (including a research function to evaluate managers across all asset classes), performance analysis, and specific fiduciary and investment issues associated with concentrated securities positions. He also helped develop simulation models based on clear investor preferences and regulatory constraints for dynamic decision making. Prior to joining Mellon, Jim was a Vice President with J.P. Morgan where he helped establish the mortgage-backed securities department and traded and made markets in mortgage-backed securities. He also started and managed the analytics group that evaluated complex mortgage and mortgage-derivative securities. While at Morgan, he worked in Global Derivatives in the Equity Derivatives Group and was responsible for private structures created primarily for U.S. pension accounts and investment managers. Jim also taught fixed-income securities markets, valuation, and portfolio management techniques for several years as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance in the Stern School of Business at New York University. Jim is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Carnegie-Mellon University.

Gregory R. Friedman, Managing Director & Chief Investment Officer (Portland)

Greg is a Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer and heads Greycourt's Pacific Northwest office. Prior to joining Greycourt he was a Principal at Windermere Investment Associates, where he advised ultra-high-net-worth families regarding the construction of tax-efficient portfolios, the development of complex multi-generational investment policies, the evaluation and selection of traditional and alternative investment managers and ongoing tactical implementation of client portfolios. Greg has developed tax and estate planning capabilities for incorporation into after-tax asset allocation software, and has developed a dynamic multi-factor model for forecasting long-term asset class return assumptions. Prior to working with Windermere, Greg was Director of Investment Strategy at Mellon Private Capital Management, where he managed $3 billion in client assets. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Mark J. Laskow, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (Pittsburgh)

Mark is a Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Prior to joining Greycourt he was Vice President and a Director of The Hillman Company, where he managed investments in energy and international private equity and was involved in many aspects of the private equity program. Mark has long experience in a variety of wealth management issues affecting ultra-wealthy families, including family office management, family dynamics, tax and estate planning, issues associated with closely held and public companies, and the design and execution of private equity strategies via direct investments and investment partnerships. Mark is President of the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission, Chair of the Shadyside Hospital Foundation, a Vice Chair of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a member of the board of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. He is a graduate of The Hill School, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

David R. Lovejoy, Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Compliance Officer (Pittsburgh)

Prior to joining Greycourt, David was Vice Chairman at Mellon Bank Corporation, where he was responsible for Corporate Development and Strategy. While a Member of the Office of the Chairman at Mellon, David focused on all issues relating to the corporation’s strategic direction, development and growth. He was accountable for determining and executing the organizations M&A strategy and the performance of a wide range of the corporation’s businesses. Prior to joining Mellon, David was the Vice Chairman of Security Pacific Corporation. He is a Director of First Internet Bank of Indiana, has served as a Director of the Los Angeles Branch of the 12th District Federal Reserve Bank, and was a Director of Phelps Dodge Corporation. David is also a past Chairman of the Board of Family House. He has extensive domestic and international corporate leadership experience in financial services and a proven record in corporate development and strategy, corporate restructuring and starting companies. David holds BS and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California.

John G. Mebane, Jr., CFA, Managing Director (Charlotte)

John leads Greycourt’s Southeast office in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to joining Greycourt, John was CIO of The Duke Endowment, a $2 billion plus private foundation established by James B. Duke. Before joining The Duke Endowment in 1983, John served as a trust investment officer at Wachovia and Mellon Banks. John has long experience in the design of investment risk management policies, practices and processes, working with investment committees, investment managers, attorneys, custodian banks, consultants and security brokerage firms. John serves on the board of the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, he is a previous member of the Investment Committee of the Foundation for the Carolinas and was formerly board Chair of Foundation Advisor, Inc., the investment advisor to The Investment Fund for Foundations. He is a member of the North Carolina Society of Financial Analysts and has served in various capacities including president. John is a Chartered Financial Analyst who holds BA and MBA degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Roy W. Nichol, CFA, Managing Director (Houston)

Roy oversees Greycourt’s Southwest office in Houston. Formerly a Managing Director in The Private Bank of JPMorgan Chase where he worked with ultra affluent individuals and private foundations, Roy was named by Worth magazine in 2002 as one of the top financial advisers in the US. He has extensive experience in providing clients strategic advice on overall investment direction, risk mitigation and insuring asset allocations are consistent with tax-and-estate-planning considerations. Community activities include that of past board chairman of Holocaust Museum Houston , and participation on the advisory boards of The Memorial Hermann Foundation , Houston Achievement Place, The Junior League of Houston, and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Roy is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and is a member of the Houston Society of Financial Analysts. He holds a BA in Economics from Baylor University.
