John Bownds, CFA
John joined Greycourt in 2024 as a Senior Associate Advisor. John works closely with other members of the advisory team and senior investment analysts to evaluate and manage client investment accounts, perform asset allocation modeling, develop capital market expectations, and conduct manager research. Prior to joining Greycourt, John worked as a Senior Valuation Consultant with Baker Tilly, where he was part of a small team that produced expert valuations of public and private companies for use in complex securities litigation proceedings. Prior to that, John worked for Bexar County, where he was responsible for managing an approximately $1 billion fixed income portfolio as well as modeling and analyzing the County’s overall debt profile.
John graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Economics and minor in Business Administration. He holds a MS in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio. John is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder and a member of the CFA Society of San Antonio.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®)
The CFA Program is a three-part exam that tests the fundamentals of investment tools, valuing assets, portfolio management and wealth planning. To be eligible to become a CFA Charter holder, an individual must have a Bachelor’s degree followed by a combination of 4,000 hours work experience and/or higher education and is required to successfully pass three exams. CFA Charter holders become members of the CFA Institute and must comply with the CFA Institute’s Professional Conduct Statement.
